Stephen Pollard
I started planning The Clean Green Car Company in mid-2003, and opened the doors a year later.
I have travelled extensively and started out working as a guide in the adventure travel industry. After a stint as the General Manager of an eco-tourism company in Queenstown, I returned home to Auckland to get a "real job". While working for a corporate media company in Auckland, I drove a Prius for the first time, and was amazed by its smoothness, quietness, and almost unreal fuel economy. I have long been interested in both environmental issues and business, so after my "corporate time" I realised I had a unique opportunity to combine those interests by getting involved in the greener end of the car industry at an early stage of its development.
The Clean Green Car Company is the result of that decision. It's a decision that has required a lot of hard work, but it's all been worth it. I love spending time with people, and the look on the face of someone who has just traded in their conventional car for one of our green cars reminds me, every day, that I made the right decision. The Clean Green Car Company is not a charity - we need to make a profit to stay in business - but I have the satisfaction of knowing that what I do is good for the environment, good for our clients, and good for my family.
I'm married to Joy, and we have a son, Sean, who celebrated his third birthday recently.
As you can see below we are very much a family business.
Joy Pollard
Joy is married to Steve and is a chartered accountant but has taken a break from this since the birth of our son Sean. She works part time looking after the admin and accounts side of the business.
Arun Subramani
Arun is Joy's brother and his job is preparing our cars for sale. He inspects and grooms each of our cars when they arrive and generally makes sure they are up to our very high standards
Noel Pollard (Dad)
Noel started working part-time with The Clean Green Car Company after retiring from 14 years as the Arms Officer at the Takapuna Police. Noel organises the readying of new stock for sale and helps co ordinate the transporting, grooming and servicing of the cars.
Mark Pollard
Mark is one of Steve's brothers (there are four of us) and is responsible for all the print and website visual design for The Clean Green Car Company. He is currently based in the bustling metropolis of Banockburn in central Otago. Mark works freelance through his company Tom tom design and is available for any other design work - his website is www.tomtomdesign.co.nz.
