Stephen Pollard
I started planning The Clean Green Car Company in 2003, opening the doors a few months later. After my studies, I travelled extensively and then worked as a guide in the adventure travel industry. I ended up as the General Manager of a top eco-tourism company in Queenstown, before returning home to Auckland to get a “real job”. While working for a corporate media company in Auckland, I drove a Prius for the first time, and was just amazed by its smoothness, quietness, and its almost unreal fuel economy. I have long been interested in environmental issues, and in helping people, which is why I spent many years in the eco-tourism industry. After my “corporate time” I realised I had a unique opportunity to combine my interests by getting involved in the hybrid car industry at an early stage of its development. The Clean Green Car Company is the result of that decision. It’s a decision that has required a lot of hard work, but it’s all been worth it. I love spending time with people, and the look on the face of someone who has just traded in their conventional car for one of our hybrid cars, reminds me, every day, that I made the right decision. The Clean Green Car Company is not a charity – we need to make a profit to stay in business – but our profits are reasonable, and I have the satisfaction of knowing that what I do is good for the environment, good for our clients, and good for my family. I’m married to Joy, and we have a very busy 2 year old boy called Sean.
John Pollard
John is Steve's younger brother, with a background in interior design and furniture retail. After the early days of the Clean Green Car Company, with Steve as the only full time staff member, backed up with a few part-timers, we realised we needed more help, and Steve knew that John would be the perfect addition to the team. Once upon a time, John was something a "petrolhead" and his extensive mechanical knowledge has been invaluable in our daily operations. These days John drives a Prius, although one of his hobbies is restoring 80s Japanese sports cars, (his current project he will eventually drive as his "Sunday car"), he is now a committed hybrid car owner, and as he says; "I could never go back to a conventional car for my everyday commute". John is an accomplished musician, and on quiet days at the Clean Green Car Company he's been known to pull out his guitar and strum out a song or two. John is married to Yoshie and recently had their first child - a lovely girl called Mio!
Mark Pollard
Yet another brother (there are 4 of us) Mark is responsible for all the print and website visual design for The Clean Green Car Company. He is currently based in Bannockburn in beautiful cental Otago. Mark is available for any other design work. Just drop us a line to get in touch with him.
Noel Pollard (Dad)
Noel started working part time with The Clean Green Car Company after retiring from his role of the previous 14 years as the Arms officer at the Takapuna Police. He owns a 4 wheel drive as his everyday transport although in mitigation it is 1300cc Suzuki Jimny (so in keeping with our "low emission" ethos) and he is absolutely sold on the Toyota Prius Sue (Mum) owns and drives.
Noel organises getting new stock ready for sale and co-ordinates the transporting grooming and servicing.
